How Chiropractic Helped One Patient Stop the Pounding

man with headache in front of computerAt inBalance Chiropractic and Wellness, we regularly see patients who have been sidelined by headaches that, in many cases, are debilitating, affecting their daily lives in many ways. This type of discomfort can stem from various factors, including food sensitivities, gut health issues, misaligned bones, etc.

Here’s a look at how we were able to stop the pounding for one patient.

Uncovering Food Sensitivities Through Testing

When a patient came to our office complaining of persistent headaches, Dr. Jackie conducted a thorough evaluation to identify the root cause. Through non-invasive muscle testing, we discovered that she had common food sensitivities to soy and eggs. These sensitivities triggered the headaches, causing discomfort and impacting the body’s healing process.

“As part of the treatment plan, we worked toward minimizing these foods in her diet for the next four to six weeks,” said Dr. Jackie.

The Importance of Addressing Gut Health

Understanding the intricate connection between the gut and the brain, we further examined the patient’s gut health. We discovered that she had a condition known as leaky gut, where the lining of the gut becomes weakened, resulting in particles from food leaking into the bloodstream. This condition not only caused bloating but also contributed to symptoms such as brain fog, fatigue, and headache.

To address this issue, we provided the patient with nutritional support while continuing to minimize trigger foods. “It helped tremendously with her headaches, and she got much better,” said Dr. Jackie.

Alignment Matters: Neck and Cranial Bones

Misalignment of the neck and cranial bones can also contribute to headaches and other related issues. In this particular case, the patient displayed rotation in the C1 and C2 vertebrae, which are located at the top of the neck. This misalignment can lead to dysfunction in areas such as the eyes, ears, nose, throat, and sinus. By focusing on aligning these bones, we aimed to provide relief from these symptoms.

Cranial Bones and Breath Mechanics

Our cranial bones play a vital role in our overall health, including preventing headaches. Breathing in and out causes slight movement in the cranial bones at the joints called sutures. The cranials move 2.2 millimeters each time we inspire and expire, this ensures that our nerves are properly coated with cerebrospinal fluid for optimal protection. By ensuring the unrestricted movement of these bones, we can better protect and support our nervous system, reducing the likelihood of headaches.

The Importance of a Comprehensive Evaluation

It’s important to note that headaches can have multifactorial causes and require a comprehensive approach to treatment. In this patient’s case, Dr. Jackie performed a thorough examination that revealed the interconnected nature of food sensitivities, gut health, neck alignment, and cranial bone movement. By addressing each of these factors, we were able to provide effective relief.
